Musée du Papier Peint - Details

These archives were carefully selected and restored and are now available for your interior decorating projects and design schemes. Each historic design can be printed in millions of different colours using the latest generation digital printers at Barrisol’s local production site and given mat, lacquered, satin or textile finishes that add an extraordinary modern touch to your walls and ceilings.

Wall paper has been an integral part of our interiors for over two centuries. It is a testimony of the history we have lived through, of historical and technical evolutions and of the changing fashions, tastes and styles of each generation.

Since the techniques for printing on cloth and on paper were similar, Mulhouse became home to both these industries and witnessed a wealth of creativity. The wall paper museum of Rixheim, which was inaugurated in 1983 and boasts 160,000 documents from the 18th century to the present day, is responsible for preserving this legacy. Its collections are devoted to the items that best represents the evolution of decorating, fashion and tastes over the centuries.

Barrisol® has been a patron of the arts and has shared its passion for art and history since its inception. It works every day to incorporate cutting edge technologies into interior design and decorating. Every ceiling or wall that comes out of our workshops is a unique work of art.

The Editions Barrisol® Collection, now enriched with the large collection of images of the Musée du Papier peint, is an exceptional source of inspiration offering you the possibility to customise your interior with pictures full of history. Barrisol® ceilings and Artolis® Walls offer a unique design combined with acoustic confort for all projects.
