Here are some frequently asked questions.

• What is Barrisol made of?

  The Barrisol sheets are made with a polymer whose formula is the property of Barrisol. Barrisol holds the patent for the manufacture and composition of the material. Barrisol holds more than 80 patents. Barrisol sheets are classified B-s1,d0, B-s2,d0 or B-s3,d0 (depending on the finish) and A2-s1,d0 in GTS finish in Europe and Class 1 in the USA. Barrisol sheets are not toxic and 100% recyclable.
• Is the safety of Barrisol sheets guaranteed?

  Barrisol sheets comply with French, European and international standards. For more details, see the Security section.

• How resistant are Barrisol ceilings?

  In case of water damage, the Barrisol ceilings can support masses of several liters of water (without perforation of the sheet and with perimeter fixing of the profiles to 30 kg/m). They then return to their original shape.

• How is a Barrisol ceiling installed?

  A Barrisol stretch ceiling is installed a few centimeters from the existing ceiling by an approved Barrisol installer. The Barrisol sheet can be fixed at any height within the plenum, with a minimum distance of 1.25 cm and no maximum limit.

  A typical installation, such as a simple-shaped 25 m² bedroom, takes half a day and does not require much furniture to be moved.

• Can we clean a Barrisol ceiling?

  In normal use, a Barrisol ceiling does not need to be cleaned. If this ceiling were to be stained, it can be cleaned with chamois leather. There are also suitable cleaning products (ask us for cleaning products).

• Can we install a Barrisol sheet on a wall?

  Yes, see ‘Barrisol Wall’ for more information.

• Does Barrisol offer ceiling air conditioning?

  Barrisol is the only manufacturer to offer a reversible air conditioning system cold AAA hot AAA according to the ISO 7730 standard.

  This air conditioning is invisible, silent and even. It can also be luminous and acoustic.

• How does the Barrisol Clim^® air conditioning system work?

• Does Barrisol offer acoustic sheets?

  Yes, Barrisol offers micro-perforated sheets as an acoustic absorber combining aesthetics with quality acoustics.

  Note that the acoustic absorber is different from acoustic insulation. (The acoustic absorber improves the sound of the room.)

• Is the Barrisol ceiling recyclable?

  Yes, the Barrisol ceiling is 100% recyclable, for all the products made of copolymer.

• Does Barrisol offer recycled sheets?

  The Barrisol Les Recyclés® line is an additional step in the company’s commitment to sustainable development.

  Like all other Barrisol sheets, Les Recyclés® can be recycled, but they are produced from old Barrisol sheets.

• Does the Barrisol stretch ceiling contribute to a better carbon footprint?

  Yes, Barrisol sheets are 100% recyclable and can be reused in other products (manufacture of garden hoses, public benches, various plastic objects). The profiles and structures are 100% recyclable. Barrisol stretch ceilings do not use water in the manufacturing process. There are no CFC or HCFC emissions. The Barrisol ceiling is guaranteed cadmium free. The Barrisol stretch ceiling has a longevity of more than 40 years, it is washable and does not need to be painted.

• Is the Barrisol ceiling printable?

  Yes. Thanks to digital printing, it is possible to print photos, logos and patterns of your choice on 14 finishes (such as matt, lacquered, satin, translucent, brushed suede, perforated, TrempoDesign, TrempoVision, recycled, metal, etc.) and 230 Barrisol colors. The patterns/photos must have a resolution of at least 300 DPI and a size of 1/10th of the sheet to be printed. • What is the lifespan of a Barrisol stretch ceiling?

  A Barrisol stretch ceiling has a 10-year warranty for the welding of the sheets and harpoons (see our warranty conditions).

  However, the life of Barrisol ceilings is longer. Ceilings installed in the 1980s are still in place.

  Moreover, if you wish to change Barrisol ceilings to have another color or another finish (printed, acoustic, luminous, etc.), we take care of recycling the ceilings to give them a second life.

• Can I use Barrisol outside?

  Yes, in this case, we recommend choosing the TrempoVision® and TrempoDesign® lines.

• Does Barrisol take part in the HQE program?

  Yes, Barrisol was used in the  HQE project of the University of Law and Letters of Mulhouse.

• How can I find out if there is an approved Barrisol installer close to me?

  The network of more than 1,000 Barrisol installers all over the world is very extensive. There is sure to be one near you. To find your closest installer, please contact us.

• How much does a stretch ceiling cost?

  The stretch ceiling is an excellent value for money. The Barrisol ceiling is custom-made. We would be pleased to give you the exact price if you send us the plans of your ceiling for a study. We are at your disposal to establish a free quotation on request.

• How do I order a stretch ceiling?

  A network of distributors is at your disposal throughout France and all over the world. You will find the one closest to you at “locate your installer”.

• What is the minimum height for the installation of a stretch ceiling?

  It is 1.25 cm without technical elements, and if you wish to install spotlights, the required height will be the size of the chosen spotlight.

• Is it possible to install any type of light fixtures in a stretch ceiling?

  Any type of light fixtures can be installed, as long as they do not give off heat above 50°C.

• Can a Barrisol stretch ceiling be installed under a heated ceiling?

  The Barrisol stretch ceiling is ideal to allow the transmission of heat from a heated ceiling. In addition, Barrisol offers a reversible hot/cold air conditioning system.

• What is the maximum size for a project with Barrisol stretch ceilings?

  There is no maximum size, projects of more than 30,000 m² have already been installed. We adapt our fixing system to the surface to be covered, including for a bathroom.

• Can we create 3D shapes with Barrisol stretch ceilings?

  Any shape can be created: curves, domes, etc. We invite you to discover these examples of projects.

• Is the Barrisol ceiling completely removable and refittable at will?

  Yes, absolutely, we can dismantle and reassemble the ceilings, they are not disposable like some textiles.

• Who should I contact for after-sales service?

  The installer who fitted the Barrisol ceiling.

  The Barrisol stretch ceiling benefits from a 10-year guarantee in accordance with our general terms and conditions and subject to having filled in your guarantee form.

• What color choices are possible for a ceiling?

  Barrisol ceilings are available in more than 230 colors and 15 finishes, however we can make custom colors on request.

  In addition, we can print the color of your choice to correspond to a specific RAL code on request.

• Can we install Barrisol ceilings anywhere?

  Yes, they can be installed anywhere indoors except in saunas. For outdoors, we have a specific range.

• Can Barrisol be installed with a chimney flue or wood stove?

  Yes, it is necessary to inform the installer who will adapt the fixing of the Barrisol rails to resist heat.

  It will be necessary to pay attention to any hot-air vents which, depending on their position, could accelerate the aging of the sheet.

• Can we install a Barrisol stretch ceiling in a humid location?

  Yes, Barrisol resists humidity and can be installed in bathrooms, swimming pools, spas, hammams, etc. (but not in saunas).

  For chlorinated or saline areas it is necessary to provide for a special anodization of the aluminum profiles, 25 microns thick. It is also necessary to provide specific screws and bolts adapted to this type of environment.

• Is there a fire-resistant ceiling?

  The Barrisol ceiling is not fire-resistant. However, it is possible to install a fire barrier behind the Barrisol sheet. The Barrisol sheet allows the following finishes: printed, luminous, acoustic, etc.

• How do you make a luminous ceiling?

  A luminous ceiling is achieved by installing LEDs behind translucent Barrisol sheets specially designed for this purpose.

  It is possible to have a uniform light by installing LEDs over the whole surface, or to have an amber effect with peripheral lighting only. Barrisol recommends the use of a sheet above the diffusing sheet to avoid dust and insects.

  The transmission rates of the luminaires are all tested according to standard NF EN 410 and available on request.

• Does Barrisol offer the best acoustic performance?

  Yes. Without an acoustic absorber, Barrisol achieves an αw of 0.65 and an NRC of 0.60. With an absorber, it can reach an αw of 1.0.

• What is the highest light transmission Barrisol can achieve?

  Barrisol achieves a light transmission of 81%, with no visible LEDs from 8 cm. This system can cut energy consumption by up to 30%.

• Does Barrisol help save energy?

  Yes. Thanks to the translucent Polaris sheet, Barrisol can save up to 30% on lighting energy and up to 20% on air conditioning. The two savings can be combined.

• Does Barrisol offer a solution for every ceiling and configuration?

  Yes. Barrisol has developed more than 100 systems to meet every need: standard, acoustic, luminous, air conditioning, 3D, and more.

• Does Barrisol have the widest range of stretch ceilings?

  Yes. Barrisol offers the largest choice of colors and fire-rated finishes, to meet every request from architects and designers.

• What is Barrisol made of?

  Barrisol is made of a polymer that complies with fire safety standards and is rated A+. Depending on the finish, the sheets are bio-based, rated A+, GREENGUARD Gold certified and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified. The fixing system is made of post-consumer recycled aluminum and emits 5 times less carbon than a traditional system.

• Does Barrisol have the lowest carbon footprint?

  Yes. The Barrisol biopolymer has a carbon footprint 3 times lower than a conventional stretch ceiling, and about 7 times lower than a traditional plasterboard ceiling. Combined with profiles made of 80% post-consumer recycled aluminum, it offers one of the lowest carbon footprints on the market.

• Are all Barrisol profiles low-carbon?

  Yes. The profiles are made of 80% post-consumer recycled aluminum. Barrisol has also developed an extremely lightweight profile that reduces the carbon footprint even further.
